How do i get rid of security Pop Ups?

The other day i down-loaded a program so i could watch a video on a website (stupid thing to do, i know) and since then i keep getting all of these pop-ups from different programs saying my computer's infected; it's even changed my homepage to "Security Centre". I already have Norton Secturity, which says my compuer is fine, but it's started slowing down now. PLEASE HELP!

People who have an old or low spec pc may find Norton slows their pc down, and it does tend to be rather large, but it is quite good at finding and removing most malware. *No* single program, or suite, can prevent, or find and remove, every single piece of malware that exists.

A couple of easy things you can try. Run an on-line scan using e.g. NOD32 online scan: http://www.eset.com/onlinescan/

If you haven't got a good anti-spyware program, download and run the free version of SuperAntiSpyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/

However, it sounds as though you may have a Smitfraud or Vundo infection, in which case you'll need to use specialist removal tools. There some self-help guides below but you'd be better off getting specialist help from, e.g. Bleeping Computer.
