End user electronics repair is a dim market considering the price of electronic devices. Although service oriented electronics such as Home Automation, Fire Alarm, and Video Surveillance can be lucrative. And of course if you've attained an engineering degree, you could find yourself on the cutting edge of technology. Networking and IT fields are what I'd consider to have the best paying technical positions overall, and requires a studious mind to maintain performance and certifications.
