What is "a valid security certificate"? More info?

When I click on Verizon Online Help %26 support - email support I get a popup saying"To help protect your security, Interent Explorer has blocked this website from displaying content with security certificate error". Then at the top of the page is "Content was blocked becausde it was not signed by a valid security certificate". I am new to computers and have no idea what they are talking about. Thanks for help.

Web-pages (usually with address starting with https) may have a mechanism to certify that they are real and hosted by a real entity. (For example without such certificate you may implement a web-page similar to an e-bank, and obtain user names and passwords. But if the users check the certificate entering the site of the bank, they can see, whether it is real or not.)

You may search in Iternet Option / Advanced to override this setting.

Often this message is caused by your date settings being wrong. If you're getting this message on more than1 or 2 websites, make sure your time and date are correct. Right click your clock in the lower right corner of the desktop, and adjust time and date. Report It
