Do some computer systems just run loud?

Computer: AMD Athlon(tm) Processor

1.10 GHz 368 MB of Ram

OS: Mocrosoft Windows XP Professional

Version 2002

Service Pack 2

I've replaced one of the fans already and I am considering replacing the system fan. The computer does not seen to

be running hot, but how does on know if the computer is running

hot?

I really enjoy my computer but I have started setting it on standby quit often as the loud humming gets on my nerves.

I have researched other posted questions and I am considering following some of the suggestions, such as the Ewido Security download, but I have a security system and virus protection and I'm not sure that this is the answer. I may just have a loud computer.

I would have to say that your computer is just loud. I have had many friends and read many reviews saying that AMD Athlon's and the fans for their computers run quite loud. I don't really think overheating is an issue here as when a computer overheats it's pretty easy to tell (applications slow down tremendously, hard drive has trouble finding files, error messages pop up repeatedly, etc). Your best bet is to replace the fan(s) in your computer but that is probably as far as I would take it.

Although I don't know exactly what your noise sounds like, make sure that all hardware inside the case is securely fastened as well has the case itself. I've run into many instances where a screw was loose or the outer case for the tower was loose and the whole thing would rattle and vibrate annoyingly.

unless it's fairly new or expensive.......then yes , it can get under your skin sometimes!!!
Clean your computer out with a small vacum and take a can of compressed air and blow out the dust from around the fan and processor. Some systems run loud depending on where you have them located and they are not getting enough air flow, make sure it is not close to a wall and have enough open air space to keep it cool. go on and replace the other fan as well it good to replace both fan at the same time.
